Lytro, the revolutionary camera system that could allow you to focus in post using some sort of black magic, recently pulled out of the consumer market.

Then after consulting their witch doctors they came back with this new piece of alien hardware that allows the camera to capture the light in a scene using something called Light Field Data. That just blows my mind. Being able to detect depth in a shot is freaking crazy.

And the place where this back to the future beast will initially excel is in VR and Green screen work. Being able to move around the frame is one of the most exciting things I seen in a while.

You will however, need a small city of hard drives to capture the data, and you can’t buy it but you can rent it. However it’s the size of a truck so shoulder mount is out. If you want to know more check out the video from Lytro below.
